stantheman
Been to Russia off and on. Definitely worth a visit. Culturally a million miles from anything the average tourist is accustomed to. Good jazz club in Moscow, called "Le Club". Good outdoor market too. But a note of caution. Unless you're as adventurous as our thread poster, you will not find Russia caters for the British motorist (or the British 'anything' come to that). Terrible roads (although not as bad as Belgium!), so take plenty of spare parts unless your campervan is a Trabant. Roadsigns in Cyrillic script, as are most things (a Russian speaker in your group is a definite advantage). Don't know about campsites, never been there in the motorhome. But what the hell, life's too short to worry. Might as well die in Vladimir as anywhere.
Archiesgrandad
I'm not sure what you're trying to tell us here, but wasn't Vladimir a bloke? AGD
stantheman
Don't show your ignorance, Archie. Vladimir was one of the medieval capitals of Russia, and two of its cathedrals are a World Heritage Site. There's also a nice little town nearby, Suzdal. Worth a visit but a bit 'touristy' in the summer. In fact Russia is best seen in the winter. If you can stand temperatures down in the minus 20s. Blimey if you think roads are bad in Belgium you'd better stay clear of Poland! (lol)
