This is quite a nice aire in the area.

Ste. Croix de Verdon (Alpes de Haute Provence 04) The aire is on the road leading to a lakeside beach and municipal campsite. It’s €6 for overnight parking, the services are free. The good facilities include toilets (cleaned every day), waste and cold showers. Good views of lake and mountains. There’s room for 16 ‘vans but it would be crowded if full. We were last there in spring 2009.

Another aire in the region: Trigance (Var 83). The village is off the D955 between Comps sur Artuby and Rougon. The aire is just outside the old village and costs €6 per night including electricity. However the parking is on quite a severe slope so we overnighted on a grass parking area about half a mile before the village. It’s a lovely setting and not far from the Gorges du Verdon. The graveyard is interesting! We were last there spring 2009.

Trigance is a lovely aire with views to die for; never found the slope too bad. Re aires near Toulon then aire at Cuges-les-Pins (13) is worth a visit. Terraced, hard standings, easy walk to village, very secure as warden lives on site and barrier locked overnight (3€/night). Further on coast Port Carro is right on sea/harbour side but does get very busy (8€/night inc services). Bus to Martigus which is worth a visit.
