Rayjsj
Whoever said 'There is no such thing as bad weather, just incorrect clothing' has obviously never camped in the the Lake District during this 'Lovely British Summer' !! Incorrect Transport Perhaps... a Boat instead of a Motorhome, and this type of 'Flash Flooding' happens in France, Spain and Italy too !! Just keep well up to date with Local weather forecasts, and don't try to 'Brave it out', If they say it's probably going to be 'Bad' then it probably is. And if the water level on that 'lovely site by the river' starts to rise..... Move...quick. Ray

All of the foregoing.....just try and enjoy it.....and remember if it is absolutely persisting down the rivers and waterfalls will be more spectacular.....there's always an upside unless you get flooded that is. LordThornber
Haha, nice one Rich, joking aside I wish Mum could still come but her flying days are behind her. Unless Mr Branson fancies parting with 3 of his Virgin Upper Class tickets on the (very) cheap? :D :D Martyn

LordThornber
Dave the prices have fallen for out there. Last years "troubles" started the trend and this year has been no different. We booked over a month before we went. A friend who works in the travel industry said it was a real bargain, it wasn't much different to what we paid last year, same ish time. We booked with the link below, the small print reveals that it's Thomsons bucket shop. The smaller print reveals that the flight element of the holiday isn't covered by ABTA. So we booked with the credit card to get the obvious protection. When the tickets arrived we quickly worked out that we (surprise surprise) were on the same plane as the Thomson customers (who were ABTA coverered) - therefore the chances of the plane being cancelled were nigh on zero. It was terrific value for money, getting exactly what we wanted. Sun. Nice clean accomodation and decent food were the icing on the proverbial. That said, at £40 a day I couldn't have give a toss what the place or grub was like. http://www.onthebeach.co.uk/ Martyn

Dave225
Have to agree with the 'going abroad' solution. However, have just returned early from the south as it.......was too HOT. I do accept that up to 40 degrees is getting a wee bit unbearable especially as we did not have AC. So, chickened out and came home to...........soggy rain. Ah well, the bright side is we head back in 7 weeks and the heat will have died a bit. we hope.
