cadac/ spanish gas

Recommended Posts

hi guys

going for some winter sun 6 to 7 months, so to help out with gas buying, we do have gaslow, but sometimes it just nice to have an alternative and a cook up outside, so thought about using the small/ mini size cadac that uses small disposable cylinders.

so does anyone know if it is possible to convert these to run from a hose and be connected to a spanish cylinder? and is the repsol cylinder the most easily available?

hope you get the jist of my plan, thanks brian

It's probably going to depend on which Cadac product you choose. Examples are shown here

and it appears that some models can run off a disposable gas canister or a separate gas-bottle. A Cadac BBQ that can be run off a separate Cadac-branded gas-bottle can almost certainly be run from a Spanish gas-bottle with suitable adapters at the gas-bottle connection.

(If you are contemplating adapting a Cadac BBQ that has been designed just to run from a disposable gas canister so that a separate gas-bottle can be used instead, then I suggest you don't.)

My understanding is that the most common brands of Spanish 'exchange' gas-bottles are REPSOL and CEPSA. REPSOL seems to be the brand usually mentioned on motorhome forums.

thanks or the link Derek, i see why i was a bit confused now there are 2 identical looking safari chef but 1 is high pressure running from a canister, the other which i need is a low pressure which runs from a bottle, looking on e-bay that isn't made clear, as you say with a spanish bottle and regulator should be no problem

thanks brian
