just insured one of our new bikes and it was an extra £110 (£2200 bike) I think that reasonable considering its EU wide..

You have to remember items insured outside the house are always more expensive because of the risk. You think your quote for 2 bikes expensive, have a look and see what stand alone bike insurance costs.. treble in most cases

we insure with UIA as it was recommended on an e bike forum....maybe try a quote

Our two Freego bikes £1200 each cost £50 on the household insurance and does include if batteries are stolen and bikes left.

Seems like a successful try-on by the Insurance company, Time to change next year !

Marks and Spencer home insurance is good for including cycles in the policy. I assume electric bikes will come under the same as normal bikes.

According to my insurance company , electric bikes are seen as "mechanized or assisted" transport. But any excuse to up the premium will do !Rgds

As they are MOtorised PEDal cycles I would have thought they would be classed by insurance companies as mopeds ? (?)

Unfortunately they don't.
I suspect that M"n"S just act as agents, If you can get through to the insurance company, you may be able to do a deal. Although it may be as cheap to insure with a specialist insurer of through Cyclist Touring Club.Rgds

I think a lot of the time these companies think of a price and double it! I've just sold my Caterham 7 which was a very quick car and very stealable, the insurance on that was £180 which included 30 days european breakdown and recovery. How do you square the circle and come up with pretty much the same money to insure a couple of thou of bikes? the mind boggles!
