Derek Uzzell
Tribsa Fiat Ducato owner handbooks can be viewed/downloaded from here https://aftersales.fiat.com/elum/home.aspx?languageid=2 These should contain a section “FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS" that will indicate the quality and specification of the correct lubricant to be used, and the specific lubricant that would have been put in when the vehicle was manufactured. For example, for a Euro 4 Ducato diesel engine motor a SAE 5W-30 synthetic lubricant, (classification FIAT 9.55535-S1) might be advised as being the correct quality/specification for the engine-oil, while SELENIA WR P.E. (Contractual Technical Reference No. 510.D07) might have be used originally. Fiat oil specifications are listed here http://www.oilspecifications.org/fiat.php Should a Ducato owner decide not to use the same oil as put in originally, a GOOGLE-search on the Fiat classification (eg. FIAT 955535-S1) should provide alternatives. For instance http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-903-fiat-955535-s1-engine-oil.aspx

And under that states a minimum of ACEA B4 if the genuine oil is not available. Your link even matched my registration. Which matches what it states in my paper manual that came with the Ducato Trigarno Tribute 2.3L JTD 120 multijet motorhome Year 2008 What does the term "Synthetic based engine oils" mean? Semi synthetic or Fully Synthetic?

Derek Uzzell
The reason I mentioned the “elum” website was I assumed you did not have a Ducato ‘paper’ manual. Selenia WR 5W-40 is described here http://www.selenia.com/en/dettaglio-prodotto.asp?code=1092 and is a ‘semi-synthetic’ oil. The correct Fiat definition of the 2.3litre motor in your Trigano Tribute would be (as it believe it will say in your paper manual) a “120 Multijet”. “JTD” was used with motors fitted to earlier Ducatos as shown here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato The Fiat handbook provided with my 2015 Ducato has drawings of the various motors. If I believed the headings above the drawings I might conclude that my motorhome has a 2.0litre 115bhp motor rather than the 2.3litre 150bhp motor it actually has. The drawings in my handbook are wrongly labelled and this is corrected in later handbook issues. Sometimes one just has to accept that people make mistakes... Airstream
Corporate why you should use our fluids in your fiat If it's so good why do Fiat use Shell in their premium brand Ferrari I wonder I use Mobil 1 turbo diesel as it's cheap at Costco http://fiat.mopar.eu/uk/en/parts/oil-functional-fluids Ray
Tribsa
Hi all, I was going to buy Halfords 5W40 Fully Synthetic Oil API SL CF ACEA A3 B3 B4 Oil Industry Standards ACEA A3/B4, API SM CF Then I noticed what seemed to be the same spec oil a pound or so cheaper. Inspecting both the cans the only difference I could see was one said diesel and the other petrol! What's going on here guys/gals? This set me thinking to check what other oils were for sale. I found discounted (cheaper than the halfords 5W40) Patrona Syntuim 3000 E that was 5W40 API SN/CF, ACEA A3/B4 so I bought 2 cans. Have I made a mistake?
