Moving from motorhomes to caravan

Hope it all goes well with you. We arrived back at Hull last Sunday from Spain and had the good laugh (for the 1st time only I admit) of being nearly first of the boat and the motorhomes were held back until last. As good old UK immigration now takes an age to slowly look at all the UK passports it can take nearly an hour to get through if you are unlucky. Maybe someone should tell 'em they are 10 years too late, but that is a totally different matter to your buying a caravan.

However, iIf they have battery bikes then run 'em down as that is cheating.

By the way get a mover fitted to save the effort of moving the thing.

So, Dave, having an electric motor on a bike is cheating but having something identical on a caravan is 'saving the effort of moving the thing'. Slightly biased dont you think?

Those with motorhomes would love to see you old folks struggle to park your van by hand but we dont gloat. I even helped a poor vanner move his rig the other day as his leisure battery was flat.

Motohomers hate awnings as they prevent you using a van for what its designed to do, move on regularly exploring an area as you go rather than comstantly retracing your steps, returning to the same spot.

Its great fun watching someone setting up their awning, especially in the wind, while were having a glass of wine as it took us all of 30 seconds to put the handbrake on and open the wine.

I know this is heresy on the caravan section but posted in the interest of balance.

Hi done just that.

Had new Adria sonic sl last year - felt isolated putting on silver screen couldnt go out anywhere had to pack up difficult if you have awning up no car to go anywhere and everybody says its a compromise tiny kitchen no workspace timy seating area if you have forward facing seats all friends that have Motorhomes are now buying cars to tow - Why !! they may as well face it buy a caravan much better lounging area, larger kitchen, much better all round socialising etc. Motorhomes really make you isolated . Just Bought Santa Fe premuim se auto and swift Conqueror 570 got car brilliant waiting for caravan.

Conqueror 570 pretty much identical to Blero 722fb, same bedroom, same bathroom, similar kitchen, same side sofas. Oh, and you even get an extra pair of captains chairs in the Bolero, so hardly worse nor better.

What is there to pack up in a motorhome prior to driving away? Dont know many MH users who faff about with an awning, why would you when you have a nice van to sit in. If its sunny you sit outside, dont you?

Theres no right or wrong way to 'camp' and each to their own. I can assure you that there is no gloating or envy from the MH community when watching a caravanner struggle with an awning on a windy day, but what does annoy, is when said awning has a fire and lights on, when the occupants arent even in it, what a waste. No wonder the clubs charge £3.75 a day for electricity.

Ps is your Somic still available?
