Mike88
There are fewer tolls if you go via Madrid. Getting around Madrid is easy. Burgos is a good stop. The site is about a 30 minute walk to an interesting town which is on the pilgimage route. There are 2 possible ACSI sites further down. One at La Cabrera just Off the main road north of Madrid and the other at Aranjuez. south of Madrid. Aranjuez is an excellent site in the grounds of the Royal palace and about a 20 minute to the walk and Palace. Both sites open all year.

John 47
Hi Not much to choose between the routs in terms of distance (fractionally shorter via Zaragoza) nor in standard of roads. The Madrid route will keep you at a higher altitude for longer (therefore more danger of frost and snow) but the main roads on both routes are well-maintained and kept clear. Toss a coin unlesss you have a particualr desire to see something along the way. The good news is that the weather down here (we are in Almeria) is good at the moment (20 Celcius and clear during the day, with cool crisp nights and very little of the wet stuff. Have a good trip
Iain Strachan
Hi we have just done Burgos, Aranjuez (stayed 3 nights), Cordoba, now in Marbella. Recomend Aranjuez site good people bar, restaurant and shop all open and well stocked, interesting city nearby. Straight down the motorway no tolls after Burgos.
