Vic
I'm sure this question has been asked hundreds of times so here goes once again. I have a small upright (prolectrix) bagless vacuum cleaner. Tech specs are 600W, 220/240V and 50/60 Hz. So to calculate the amps it will use I have divided the Watts (600) by Volts (220 in Europe) and I come out with 2.73. Can I use it on European sites without pitching the area into darkness? *-)
rupert123
Yes, most sites even in europe have at least 6amps, you will find some aires with less though.
tonyishuk
Most electrical appliances will pull an extra 50 to 75% current when starting, admittedly only for a short time. So your vac could pull 5 amps (give or take) on start up. Not a problem but might frighten some frugal supplies found on some camp sites. Guest peter
I can't see any problems. I have never seen an aire or site with less than 6 amp supply.
lennyhb
Italy 3 amp is quite common.
Derek Uzzell
This device supposedly allows electrical appliances with a quite high power-demand to be run successfully from lowish amperage supplies http://www.camparo.nl/index.php?action=extra&extra=A_uitleg_watt_controller&lang=EN
