Diagnostic Plug (where is it)

No. That's not it.

There have been some problems with poor connections to injectors in the past but this will only ever affect one injector at a time and will result in a pronounced mis-fire. It will still rev up but will run badly, and the engine management light will come on. The injector wiring is fairly tight but it does not cause any problems.

The more I think about it, the more likely the pedal is the problem. Please try and get it checked and if possible get the part number off yours. I have one here off an old van and it is part number 1326536080. It is made by Hella and the pedal foot plate is a ribbed MMMM pattern in plastic.

I am off now until Monday. Hope you make some progress.

Nick

we have already changed the pedal, and it wasn't the problem the part no that we changed was 1326592080 for the Pad and 1337493080 for the pedal, these are the NEW part No's.

My apologies. When you mentioned the actuator was being changed I assumed yo meant at the other end where the signal goes to.

We did have a slightly newer van which exhibited problems that seemed like a pedal issue but ended up being some corroded connections on the under-side of the fuse box in the engine compartment, so you should get that checked next.

If there is nothing wrong there it suggests that the ECU is intervening to prevent damage but allowing idle speed for diagnostics. Fuel pressure is most likely but it needs testing by a specialist to avoid any more costly 'trial and error' substitutions.

Thanks for info, was just wondering if you have a fuel pressure switch that would fit 2.8 jtd 2001 if you do could you pm me with details and price please. Thanks Val

We had a very similar problem on our 2002 Ducato while we were in Frnace.  The connectors were the problem in our case.  Sorry, himself is out and I can't remember exactly what, but I think its throttle cable to engine, when the garage did it, there were bits of the cut off wire in the cab on passengers side.  We also had an ongoing problem with the conncetors that enabled the vehicle to override the Fiat immobiliser.
