CPeachey
Whilst camping with our Trigano Tribute van we keep the tandem outside, (locked up). I would like to buy or make an alarm system that would trigger a sound or light inside the van if the bike was moved. I don't want a motion sensor as wind etc might set it off and I don't want to wake the whole campsite! I am quite handy with a soldering iron etc so a wiring diagram would do. Something suitable would be a simple cable connected inside the van and looped through the bike which, when broken/disconnected would trigger an alert. Any ideas please? EMS
Why not a simple wire looped from a window, connected though the cycle frame/wheels that when cut operates an alarm/buzzer inside the M/H.
CPeachey
Fine but I need the bits/circuit for inside the van.
Robinhood
....could you not simply use something like this, looped through the cycle frame and part of the 'van? (8ft might be a bit restrictive, but it would work for me, and there may be similar, longer items available). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CABLE-LOCK-ALARM-MOTORBIKE-CYCLE-SHED-SECURITY-OR-CARAVAN-8ft-LOUD-SIREN-/151087125602?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item232d7e9462
ips
Seems a bit OTT to me why an alarm and not just a good bike lock, or locks ??
CPeachey
Locks can be opened. Even the fancy ones. A simple alarm would be a much better deterrent for the man with the bolt cutters, plus a locked bike can be carried away.
ips
Fair point I spose, however it cant be carried away if its locked to something. Anyway good luck with finding what you need.
Archiesgrandad
Our recently aquired Pilote has a Sigma alarm systen which incorporates a wire loop that secures the bikes on the bike rack and would also protect them when parked behind the van.
