Interesting that the voice of the Caravan it's owners is being heard by the councillers. The people who park overnight would not use sites in any case and Both Durness and Dornoch desperately need visitors to spend money in the local shops. This is a very short sighted attitude. I have just come back from Orkney where wild camping is not only tolerated but encouraged by locals. The three main Council owned campsites were also full to capacity and the sheer number of tourists on the streets was evidence that the policy is working. I am afraid to say that I, as a local to the North of Scotland I do not see anything being done by either of these site owners to encourage people onto their sites other than to rely on the natural landscape.
