Guest Tony S Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 BEWARE - Motorhomes are limited to 90 km per hour on Spanish motorways and Autovias since Jan 2005. Fines are around 100 euros for exceeding this speed. (first cases already reported in french mags). Two security triangles, a reflective 'gilet' , two pairs of glasses if contact lenses are worn are also required. Also, bike racks and other rear extensions must not exceed 10% of total vehicle length. The Spanish are becoming very security conscious No clampdowns on re - heated paellas full of dodgy ingredients so far, unfortunately.
Guest PeteC Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Spare glasses have always been required Not heard of the speed limit before How does this affect a commercial van with a weight lmit of 3500kg?
Guest tony S Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 The new speed limit (90kmh) is specific to motorhomes.
Guest PeteC Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Nobody else knows anything about it Ireland have a 90km speed limit for vehicles over 3500kg All HGV's have this limit, throughout the EEC All other items you mention have been in place for several tears and are not new I asked about commercial vans of 3500kg max they have the same speed limit as cars Cant see a VW Transporter being limited this way - thats assuming they could go over 49mph anyway
Guest tony s Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Camping Car Magazine (a french mag) has carried two articles on this new speed limit of 90 kmh for motorhomes in Spain. The first article was in issue 160 (Sep 2004) warning their readers that the law was coming into force as of Jan 2005. The second article is in the April 2005 issue. Several of their readers have confirmed having received speeding tickets (98 euros) for speeds of 110 kmh and 105khm on motorways. Derek Uzzel reads french mags, perhaps he can confirm having read these articles. (p 34 in the april issue of cc mag).
