spospe
As per the tile really, can anyone recommend somewhere to stop? We used to stay on the informal Stellplatz on the river bank, but found last year that it was no longer open and that the alternative spot further upstream was being used as a bus park. Is it now a case of staying out of town and getting the bus in?
AliB
Did you mean Wurzburg in Bavaria? I've not been recently but this web site usually gives good up to date information. http://www.campercontact.com/search/searchresult?city=wurzburg&site_code=&key_words=&search_type=b&tab_selected=0&go=Search
spospe
Yes that is the place, it's at the northern end of The Romantic Road. What I was hoping to hear of was a Stellplatz in, or very near to the town itself.
onecal
Hi,You can park at "the peace bridge" two nights parking is allowed .It's about 15 min to town by foot and also has a bus connection from there in. Also many now use Aldi for parking when visiting the town, five min walk in. The Canoe club has parking facilities "Zeltplaz Kanu Club". Guest searchforsites
There are no Stellplatze with service points but there are a couple of large carparks where overnighting is permitted. We visited 2 weeks ago and went down the Romantic road to Fussen. The southern end of the road is far superior to the northern end IMHO. Wurzburg is worth a visit though. spospe
Thanks folks for your suggestions. We had a (brief) look last year, but intend to make a full day of the old town this autumn.

Guest peter
Markt Heidenfeld, No services, There's a Liddl and Aldi close by. It's right on the river Main and there'sa loads of places to eat and drink. Stayed there a few times whilst in the area, if I remember correctly it's also free. onecal
Hi,Yes they are free and they encourage stopovers as long as you give them some custom which is only fair. The parking area is CCTV protected and patrolled at night time. As Peter points out lots of shops close by.So you should enjoy.Have sent you PM on same.Regards.Brendan
spospe
Thanks to all. I had not thought about the possibility of using Aldi as a night halt before, but it makes sense: big car park, empty at night, convenient for bread and milk in the morning.
