Hi Michele

No, you can't park on the causeway. You have to park some distance away and get a shuttle bus.

The place has all been ' developed ' in recent years - i.e. commercialised.

:-(

p.s. can't recall the prices as we arrived on bikes a year or so ago, but it was expensive.

( Doubt if we will be going again )

Hi Michelle,

We were down Nr St. Michaels Mount back in May, staying at Marazion CC site.

There is a large grassed car park overlooking the Mount, plenty of room for the Largest of large vans, it was free as I recall. Not a Solid surface though, so be careful. And don't do as I did and drive through Marazion itself, it is VERY tight. Hope the Weather is kind to you. Ray

Malc , Thanks , is that a AVOID warning ?. really don't mind if it is . Just asking if its that jazzed up now might not even bother .

I wouldn't advise anyone about avoidance - because we all like different things.

My experience is based on the fact that we went many years ago - drove right up and parked on the causeway. All very laid back.

Went in 2012 - stayed on a campsite up the road in Beauvoir and cycled in ( about 2 kms ? ) and saw cars / vans etc all being diverted into a huge car park some distance from the mount.

Everyone then had to walk or get the shuttle bus to the mount.

( I ' think ' it was about 25 euros to stay there in a van for the night - but I may be wrong about that ).

There is also now a huge new aire in Beauvoir which is about 12 or 13 euros per night.

Maybe if I hadn't been there ' in the old days ' I wouldn't have been so disappointed / appalled.

:-D

Following the contribution of malcd, the aire at Beauvoir (4 km from the shuttle buses) is nine euros ninety cents according to the official web site: camping-montsaintmichel.com/fr/aire-montsaint-michel.

All parking nearest to le mont is expensive - it is 20 euros for a motorhome for 24 hours (according to the official mont saint michel website there doesn't seem to be a lesser period/charge). From the parking folks then walk to the free shuttle buses which drive across the causeway.

Last year in June we stayed at the campsite in Beauvoir (Les Pommiers) which with the ACSI card was 14 euros, including a swimming pool. It is actually closer to le mont than the Beauvoir aire.

Thanks Ray ...not going near Cornwall :D The mother in law is there .lol. :D.If you have to take a shuttle . Where is it that we would be ok to park for the night or two ?

By the way, you won't see the big new aire in Beauvoir on Google Maps yet because it is ' too new '

It's just a couple of hundred yards up the road ( and on the opposite side ) from the Pommiers campsite.

It is possible to park a motorhome overnight at Mont-Saint-Michel

http://www.bienvenueaumontsaintmichel.com/site/en/access-the-mont-saint-michel/by-motorhome

but it's not cheap and (if I remember correctly) there used to be something funny about how a 'day' was defined.

As has already been advised, the nearby aire at Beauvoir should be a better bet

Nice to see that the Beauvoir aire has dropped its' prices.

It was 12.50 euros last year. ( I wonder if the Wifi is still free ? )

Maybe they just didn't get enough business.

Yes, wifi is free.

It was 12.50 Euro last year but according to the attendant Sept 2013 nobody was staying there so they dropped the price

There is a good alternative here

La Bidonniere

A private aire with views towards the Mont and very quiet unlike Beauvoir which has pitches right along the main road.

There is also

L'Anse du Moidrey A little further back up the road but cheaper at 8€ and again quieter.

Cycling is easy from any of the sites as it is pancake flat in the area (but can be windy)

Would definitely not recommend stopping in the main car park

It's worth noting, perhaps, that - once 230V electricity has been factored in - the aire at Beauvoir is (just) the cheapest option.

The L'Anse du Moidrey aire costs 8€ for parking and (as shown in the searchforsites entry) has only two service-pedestals (bornes) supplying 55 min of electricity + 15 minutes of water for a 3€ charge. (No good, then, if one wants electricity throughout the duration of one's stay.)

The La Bidonniere aire currently costs €6.50 for a 'pitch', while 230V electricity will add €3.50 (4Amps) or €6.00 (10Amps).
