New Aires

In a recent post Henri found some Aires that appeared to have closed. We on our recent trip to France found three new Aires which might be of interest to some:

Neufchatel en Bray, in the Seine Maritime, is a private aire next to a campsite. Entry by barrier, payment by credit card, very well set out with individual hard standing pitches and adjoining grass area for putting out chairs, awning etc. Emptying point etc all to very high standard with 10 amp hook ups to each pitch. Aldi, leclerc etc fairly near with town within walking distance, although town nothing special. Looks like washing machines etc to be installed. Cost 12euros/night includes WiFi. Easy to reach from A28 so good for overnight to/from ports. Very quite night, with two French vans, will use again.

Fenenay le Comte, in Vendee, large motorhome only parking area with very generous marked spaces. Just off, but set back from , busy road which goes very quite overnight. Opposite gendarmerie so no security worries, and with electric hook-ups, although more spaces than points. Ten easy walk and nice, with many cafes, a lot of which have WiFi. Cost 5€/night by displaying ticket from machine. Good to see police doing checks, and late evening. Person with no ticket given fine. Services extra 2€. Again will return.

Marck, pas de Calais, only had quick look at this very new aire as on way to port. Looks good, individual pitches, each with hook-ups, plus usual services etc. All at present free. Wooden barrier at entrance but checked not locked down just lift to enter. Nice rural feel but near houses and leisure centre, well lit. GPS N 50° 57 20, E 001° 55 43. We will return here.

All 3 aires mentioned above have entries on the campingcar-infos website

http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm

Each entry has comprehensive details, including the address, GPS coordinates, a map, fees, services available, photos and comments.

GPS coordinates for the Neufchatel-en-Bray aire are

Latitude : (North) 49.73779° Decimal or 49° 44' 16''

Longitude : (East) 1.42736° Decimal or 1° 25' 38''

I’m pretty sure “Fenenay le Comte” should read “Fontenay le Comte” as the details provided on campingcar-infos for the Fontenay aire (new in 2011) tally with robertandjean’s information (and “Fenenay” doesn’t seem to exist.) The GPS coordinates provided for the Fontenay aire are

Latitude : (North) 46.46199° Decimal or 46° 27' 43''

Longitude : (West) -0.80495° Decimal or 0° 48' 17''

The campingcar-infos entry for the “Marck” aire carries 4 photos. There are 5 hard-standings and a 48 hour parking limitation. Further details here:

Nice Aire at MOULINS ( Dept 03) 94 spaces cost 10cents per hour 2Euro for water/emptying. Though we did find a tap by the old hut can stay for up to 30 days Have to use card to enter, and again to leave when it charges.Plenty of electric points 2 Euro for 4 hours. by the river , just cross the bridge into town, (did not go, so can't say what it's like)

Was possibly an old camp site, restaurant at entrance to site, near the sports ground.

Flat ground, so ideal for cycling

Mainly grass, but some hard standing, which could be used if wet

We stayed there several years ago, and yes it was previously a camp site.  Well worth walking into town and asking at the Tourist office what there is to see.  We thought it a lovely town, and super views as you cross the bridge.  We were on our way south to the Languedoc and from Bourges made a slight detour via Moulins, lovely roads without too much traffic.
