willtravel
Need to wash my new toy but have a problem, storage place has no water, cant take it home because of narrow entrance etc. Has anyone tried these so called waterless wash systems, personally very worried about scratches etc despite their claims. Also thinking of one of these pump up pressure sprayers as long as I am careful where I point it, but think I will run out of water half way through! Or should I wait till it rains and do it then? Also any recommendations for which shampoo for a modern coachbuilt van?
fjmike
Unless you have a PVC please do not go near the waterless systems as you will end up with a very scratched van. Motorhomes have no lacquer coatings so need to be treated with care, when you do wash it make sure that you use plenty of water (more than pump sprayers provide)
Derek Uzzell
THis earlier thread discusses waterless vehicle cleaning products http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Hints-and-Tips/Waterless-cleaners/29744/ Regarding shampoos, it shouldn't really matter what type of motorhome you've got. bolero boy
Try taking it out for a run close to one of the amazing hand wash sites that are all over the place. They will give you a price, I'm sure, up to you if its worth it. Alternatively, is there a different place you can store the van that has access to water? gocro
You really NEED to exercise your van at least once a month, letting it sit in one place does it no good at all, Kill two birds with one stone ,take it for a half an hours run and then clean it. We occasionally use a drive in pressure washer place but keep the lance WELL back from the van as the seals do not like high pressure water. Car paints are totally different than most motorhomes , PVC s can be the exception.
willtravel
Thanks for the views on waterless wash systems, they prove what I already thought. Still not sure about using a car wash and keeping the lance well away, the pressure in them is considerable even from a distance. Will go and have a chat with the storage place and see if they can lay on a supply for van washing, could be a little earner for them. We go away in our van regularly so taking it for a run is part of our routine but it gets dirty!
