winter trip 2013/14

Just a couple of questions.

France: Is the old N10 from Bordeaux to Bayonne now a fully functioning Peage?

Spain: We usually, when heading to the Costa Blanca overnight at either the site at Manzanera or Navajas, earlier this year we also stopped at the site at Olite, which was expensive for what was on offer.

I'm looking for something say near to Teruel to break the journey to Javea. Anyone know of a stopping place or site around that area?

Many thanks

As of mid September 2013 still non toll. A lot of work in progress some delays.

Open until 15/11 Cuidad de Albarracin three tier site 20 min walk to historical town ( well worth a visit ).

Thanks for the reply, interesting that its was still non-toll in Sept. We've been to Albarracin and free camped in the car park, think it may be too cold to free camp early in the year, and as you say the site closes in mid Nov.

It probably means free camping in a lower altitude village somewhere, unless someone knows better.

We drove down here mid September and it was all peage, having said that,it was cheap enough not to bother with finding an alternative route so we came back the same way in October.

Westerly route, motorway all the way about £20..campers are class one, so really hardly worth avoiding, unlike those robbing French toe tags....

Fully agree with your French sentiments....The route we tend to use to come from Irun to Pamplona on the brilliant N121a. Then on the AP15/AP68 to jcn19 then Magallon then onto Carinena via La Almunia then the A23 to Sagunto then A7/AP7 to jcn 62 Denia/Javea....job done. This gives a nice mix of roads and opportunities to have a night or two halt if we feel the need to rest and stretch our legs.

How does your route differ?

I use 121 as well but to be honest just follow the sat nag, but it's Pamplona, Zaragoza, Alicante ..

on way down overnight on ACSI site near Tudela. Looked for an aire nearby that turned out to be a housing estate, and this was nearest site in sat nav, used it last year as well, can't remember the name.....

Hi, have you thought of missing Bairitz and Pamplona and going via Mont de Marsan, Orthez. and the Somport tunnel to Huesca?. its a great road after the tunnel unless you are in a very large RV.

But then the climb up to Pamolona can be almost as severe.

We've travelled that route going north in the spring, and also like Jaca. However in the winter I don't fancy it, but thanks for the suggestion.

Just had an e-mail from Vicarious Books which tells me amongst other things that the old N10 is now the A63 and is, as others posters have said, now peage from Bordeaux to Bayonne.

GPS coordinates for the entrance roundabout are N40.33251 W1.08683. Repsol filling station off roundabout. Turn left at end of spur road for large Simply market (has cafeteria, according to Google Streets), right for Dinopolous. Huge car parks.

Thanks Brian, thats very helpful, merry Xmas.
