iandsm.
Just took the plunge and ordered one of these, you get 500mb and 1 hour of calls a day for 3 euros. The sim costs 39 euros. It is actually an Italian Vodafone sim buy usable throughout europe. Just wondering if anyone else has used one and how they got on with it. Tony Jones
We got one of these recently from motorhomewifi, who also helped me unlock the Huawei dongle from "3" to use it. It seems to work on most networks, and mhw also have a way to top it up without paying the admin fee. I've just topped mine up tonight and it was a bit fiddly this first time, especially since the website is in Italian, but now I've done it once it should be pretty straightforward. And the dongle creates a 72mbps portable hotspot which we've used happily this week while we've been away.
Guest JudgeMental
Thinking about this..aren't all data roaming charges to be abolished by July 2014? and companies like like TM already offer data for £3 a day. even at 3€ a day that still work s out at a hefty £77 a month, when you can get a country specif SIM for a lot less locally..... snail
Hi, had a europa sim dongle for laptop for 18 months worked fine all last winter in spain and portugal, and it was 2 euro a day then, you only pay the 3 euros when you use it, so for us it worked out well on line twice a month for emails, banking etc fine, but you must remember to turn off your automatic upgrades on your device as this can run away with your daily allowance snail

Suda
We bought one last year to use in a mifi and it was fine. Just remember to add credit at least once a year. With the sim and Macdonalds, it solved all our Internet issues in France, Spain and Portugal. Not found anything cheaper except in Morroco. Use it every few days and it's great. Just topped mine up ready for 2 month trip in April.
Addie
JudgeMental - 2014-02-27 7:01 AM Roaming rates to be abolished by 1st July this year http://tinyurl.com/mr6dwbh That article is dated July 2013, it is now reported to be 15th December 2015 before roaming rates are 'abolished': http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/02/24/us-eu-telecoms-roaming-idUKBREA1N1R420140224 We have seen a year-on-year gradual reduction on roaming since 2007 - set to reduce again July 2014 - but this is nothing new in that respect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_roaming_regulations To compare all data EU roaming prices (including EuropaSIM) you can see this page: http://www.motorhomewifi.com/blog/update-to-european-roaming-charges-august-2013/ Click to enlarge http://www.motorhomewifi.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/roamingdataaud13-608x365.png Hope this helps, Adam (Motorhome WiFi)

Sparks1061
The end of roaming fees looks good on paper however at least here in Finland it is not quite as simple as it first appears, I have a contract which gives me unlimited data plus 5000 mins of calls and 500 texts per month for a fixed rate. However even when the roaming fees have gone I will not be able to use the unlimited data or the call or text allowance outside of Finland. For data they will still have to set a price which I assume will be the same as if you take a contract with no bundled data (i.e expensive) and for the texts and calls it will be the rate you would pay in te unlikely event that you exceeded your included volumes (again very expensive because they don´t expect anyone to ever exceed those numbers) So don´t assume that once the roaming fees have gone you will just be able to use your existing account everywhere for the same price.
