SAGA holidays anybody tried them?

Whilst never having done anything remotely with SAGA I did 'encounter' about 20+ of a SAGA cruise group in Vienna airport some 15+ years ago.  They were returning to the UK after a combined cruise/cities holiday.  They were full of it..bubbly, laughing, joking and having a great time.  The rep with them said it had taken a couple of days for the introductions/new friends/behave correctly aspect to ease off and allow them to relax in new company and had been like this ever since.  She was quite proud to tell me they were known as 'The SAGA Louts'..... :-D

Just remember those holidays can usually be had for a lot less if you go independently as you're not paying for the tour operator overheads, tour guide etc.  However if it's 'built in company' you prefer by going in a group it could be good.

Hello has anybody on this forum ever tried a saga holiday have seen one advertised to Mauritius and quiet fancied it.....what do the panel think ?? Thanks pampam:))

Saga not cheap holidays, but ideal if you are single, and like being organised.

I have a friend (widow) she goes on them, but went on one for "singles only" and said would never go again, as not enough variety in the guests, mostly single ladies. Personaly , if I was going on an organised holiday, would choose another option to Saga. I don 't like organised holidays, as I like to do my own thing, hence the motorhome.

Horses for courses, i think.

If you like being organised then I am sure it would be OK

I haven't - not really my scene - but clients of mine went on a Saga cruise round the UK - it did not dock anywhere just visited all the spectacular coasts of the UK.

The pictures they showed me clearly demonstrated just how fantastic some of our coast is - and that seeing from offshore is incredible.

They said the cruise was superb, as was the food and the company.

Have to say - it is something now on my list to do.

Was in Borneo about three years ago in a very nice hotel (Magellan Sutera) I think it was called and we had booked thru thomas cook for bed and breakfast only :and a bunch of saga's arrived and it turned out they had paid a good bit less than us and were all inclusive they also had some tours out ie orangutang sanctuary which we had to pay separate:I was pretty impressed and thought I'd give them a try but just wondered if any on this forum had ever travelled with them:would also be a nice change to be one of the younger ones instead of at work I am an "elder".........&let me tell you they really got stuck into the all inclusive vino :- hats off to em pp:)

Hi,

Friends of ours have used SAGA for there holidays for the last 10 years, apparently they are one of the cheapest for single's or so we are told, I don't know how true that is, but our friends swear by them for quality and price,

Hope that helps
