My suggestion is to go to a library and borrow guide books for the areas you mentioned so that you can check out specific places which interest you. Combine that with looking at a good atlas of France, at campsite guides or websites (eg ACSI Camping Card discount scheme) and French tourist board websites. Then you should be able to plan a trip which meets your requirements!

We find that doing the above helps us to decide where we wish to go, possible routes and campsites. We also have the freedom to vary out itinerary once we are travelling if we buy and take the relevant books, guides and atlas with us, You should also have similar freedom in May/June.

Assuming this is a genuine request, enjoy your trip, going and staying where you wish.

Please don't take offence -- I included the above sentence because sometimes on this and other forums people start a thread asking for suggestions for huge areas (even whole countries) and then never respond, even when other folks have made numerous suggestions. Whilst we can all learn and gain from experiences of other people, we all have different likes and dislikes so it can be very difficult to make suitable recommendations. Really there is nothing as good as planning something which you wish to do apart from then doing it.

Have you tried the Ile De Noirmoutier, Ile D Oleron and the Ile De Re? These are all great for cycling. If you have been to France on numerous occasions and just wanted personal recommendations for electric bike cycling; then with the islands you can’t go wrong. It would be a day’s drive from St Malo; we drive from Calais with an overnight stop. We went to the islands last year with our electric bikes, fantastic! We are planning to return this year.

Suggest Atlantic coast of the Medoc, Lake Lacanau, Lake Hourtin. Lots of flat traffic free cycle paths, taking in lakeshore, pine forests and shorelines.

Checkout our blog for suggested stops near the cycle paths.

It is worth going over to the Medoc via the Royan ferry across the Gironde.

You mentioned the Loire valley, there are good roads/cycle paths along the Loire and the benefit also for visits to Chateaux but not too many so the enjoyment can be maintained.

There is a detailed French Guide for the Cycle routes along the Loire, possibly in French but a maps a map in any language!

Enjoy the adventure.
