George Collings Posted June 23, 2014 Author Share Posted June 23, 2014 Here is the full view. Its about 7 inch approx 17cm bore x 6ft approx 2 m long very early wrought iron gun . Manufactured by hammer welding long square section staves together into a cylinder and then hot shrinking multiple retaining hoops over the staves. Its why gun have barrels- the term was pinched from coopering. Just how they managed to handle such heavy lumps of red hot metal and then hammer it all together defies belief.
