Sydney1
On our way back from Austria last weekend and wanting to avoid stopping over anywhere near Calais, we found ourselves a cracking little aire in Beernam just outside Brugge. Adjacent to the canal and nice and quiet and at only 10 Euros including hook up and water, really good value. We even had enough time to cycle the easy 13km along the canal to the centre of Brugge. We now plan to return later this year for a longer visit to Brugge. The aire has 6 larged marked out bays, 4 with electric and 2 without. Might be worth having on your radar as an alternative to the expensive main aire in Brugge itself
Cattwg
Hi Sydney1, Thanks for the info – one to file for future reference. An aire we use that's about 32 miles to the east of Calais is the one at Bergues. Take J16 off the A25 then turn right after about 500 yards, and go along a roughish access road. The aire is a large hardstanding area adjacent to the football pitches. It’s free parking only, services are available at Camping Verdun for €5 – take shortcut (a couple of miles or so) through the town centre towards Hondschoote. Quite a lot of the old town walls are still in tact and make for an interesting walk - leaflet from the TIC in the bell tower on the town square.
