Parking on Roads Regulations

Recommended Posts

Hi, Can anyone help us. We are hiring a Campervan for the first time with the view to buy one. We are picking up from Southampton and travelling down to Weymouth. Does anyone know what parking restrictions are like for just parking on the seafront at night rather than going to a site.

Thanks

Hi and Welcome Fulkers.

There are not many places in England where motorhomes are allowed to park overnight on the seafront.

Another factor is the noise - the sound insulation of a wall depends on its weight - unlike a house where you have heavy walls which are good insulators of sound, motorhome walls are very light so you hear everything outside and seafront roads tend to be noisy places even at night.

If you are going to park on the roadside a quiet street behind the seafront, away from the centre and noisy nightime revellers, would be a better bet.

Welcome to the forum and the addictive way of life we love

I would use small camp sites rather than wild camping at least until you feel confident that you know what you are doing. If you really want to wild camp have a look at this forum http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/wild-camping-motorhome-chat/

They are experts in places safe to wild camp and if you pay a subscription they give access to POIs (Points of Interest) which is kept up dated regularly, these are lay-bys etc where it is OK to stop overnight.

Hope you enjoy your new venture. I am sure you will.
