Aire at St Tropez Yacht Marina

Hi all

We are thinking of stopping a night or two on this aire, which 'All the Aires' guide says is open Nov to March.

Does anyone know anything about this aire? Is it likely to open on Nov 1st? Any one know any time of day when traffic in St Tropez is reasonably quiet.... It was gridlocked when we went round the ring road last Friday afternoon en route to the aire at Ramatuelle (which we liked).

Thanks in advance.

I’ve never visited St Tropez in a motorhome but, as far as I can make out from on-line information, the only ‘proper’ camping-car aire there is the one detailed here

http://www.golfe-saint-tropez-information.com/fr/hebergement/aire-de-camping-car/saint-tropez/aire-privee-de-camping-car/4193

http://www.campercontact.com/fr/campersite/detail/id/4417

The first link mentions that it’s possible for camping-cars to stay at the Parking du Port in winter, but the following document

http://ouest-var.ingenie.fr/documents/CAMPING_CARS_2014.pdf

states that it’s only forbidden for motorhomes to stay there during July and August.

There’s a photo of motorhomes on the car-park here

(It may be worth adding that I came across a comment (not on a motorhome forum) complaining that the cost of parking in St Tropez was high and €15 was quoted per 24 hours for Parking du Port. If that’s correct, it might be preferable to stay at the private aire - though that gets mixed reviews too.)

Thanks Derek that is very helpful. As you say the private aire gets very mixed reviews (one of the foreign language reviews gets translated delightfully as 'Oh so cosy' . I'm not sure that's a positive.) So we will probably try the yacht harbour aire.

There is 16 cm of rain forecast for the Côte d'Azur on Tuesday so it may be time to move on shortly.

Peter, have not been to St Trop in period when aire is supposed to be open but in reality it is simply the car parking area. Certainly signs prohibiting motorhomes in peak seasons, and do recall some of entrances are narrow, so not sure if you will be able to stop or not. For visiting St Tropez we always stay on the aire at St Maxine and visit by either boat, the best way, or bus. From memory boats run right up to Christmas. Aire is urban, next road and McDonald's, and can be busy but worth for ease of access to St Tropez. Cost think now is 10€/night, no electricity. Hope this helps.

Thanks....You're right...I 'phoned Parking du Port and it is an eye watering €2.40 an hour for the first five hours then €1.70 an hour subsequently. So its gone up a lot since the 'All the Aires' book was published. So not a good overnight stop.
