Daniddon
Hello, I am a product design student in my final year at university. I am currently researching into tents and cooking stoves. I would greatly appreciate it if you could participate in my quick surveys. they are completely anonymous, and if you participate, you are agreeing to let me use your answers for research purposes only. Please only take part in this survey if you camp in a tent, as all questions are related specifically to tents Tent survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BYM323C Please only take part in this survey if you have used a camping stove. Archiesgrandad
The presence of your request for assistance from people who use tents on the most significant forum aimed at people who own motorhomes does nothing to enhance our assessment of your intellectual capacity, and may be a most worrying sign for our future as a nation. AGD Bit harsh that AGD. He might have a better response if he put it on the " Tent Camping " section, and not the " General Chat " section. ;-)
Archiesgrandad
Perhaps we need to move on from rewarding everyone regardless of their achievement as is so often the case in our society. This guy is claiming to do serious research, presumably to gain qualification or recognition, or to justify funding, and he should surely have taken some trouble to ensure he was targeting the right group of people otherwise he might just as well ask around in the bar and claim he had undertaken a real survey. Daniddon
Archiesgrandad - 2014-10-31 10:41 PM The presence of your request for assistance from people who use tents on the most significant forum aimed at people who own motorhomes does nothing to enhance our assessment of your intellectual capacity, and may be a most worrying sign for our future as a nation. AGD Okay, I found the home page to this forum, and in the little introduction at the top, I read 'Welcome to the Out&AboutLive Forums, we have a wide variety of different forums where you can chat to fellow motorcaravanners, caravanners, campers and other outdoor enthusiasts'. In that introduction, I would like to avert your attention to the word 'campers'. This suggests to me that campers are present on the forum. Granted the 'Tent Talk' section of the forum would have been best suited for the 'Tent survey', however where was I to put the 'Camping stove survey'? Instead of creating two new threads, I thought I would post both surveys in the same thread. Specifically the 'General Chat' section as the little synopsis says, 'Chat about anything and everything...'. This lead me to believe that I could chat about anything and everything. As the forum is for caravan users, motorhome users and campers, I again thought that the 'General Chat' section would be read by some campers. I also state in my previous post that it is specifically for people who have camped in a tent, and for people who have used a camping stove. This was so I did not waste anybodies time. I was unaware that the general chat section was dominated by motorhome users, as you so claim, and thought that campers were welcome as well. Brian Kirby
I aplogise on behalf of Archie's Granddad for his appalling rudeness. As you have unfortunately now discovered, Chatterbox is the collecting place on these forums for social misfits. As suggested, put your post into the Tent Camping section. It is not particularly lively, so you may have to wait a while for answers. I would suggest you include the camping stove survey there as well, as tenters are the most likely to use these. Caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents generally come with built-in cooking facilities. Good luck with your surveys and your studies.
Archiesgrandad
Please do not apologise for me, if I am considered to be rude to anyone, I would want to do so on my own account, and if this student is genuinely offended by my comments then I hope he will accept my apology. My intention was to express my view that we are too inclined to give out gold stars to everyone who attempts to do something, regardless of their actual achievement, and sometimes it may mean telling someone that they need to do better, and that may not be what they want to hear. I also think that we as a society need to challenge the modern PC attitude that means we do not tell people what we think in case we upset them. candapack
Daniddon, I'm with Brian Kirby here, so my apologies as well. As it happens, my daughter recently had to rely on reponses to a survey she was conducting as part of her postgrad MSc, so I know how stressful it was. Also, many motorhomers, like me, began their camping in tents, using stoves. I'll have a look at your surveys now and complete them if they seem relevant to my own experience. Good luck and best wishes.
nowtelse2do
Brian Kirby - 2014-11-02 5:52 As you have unfortunately now discovered, Chatterbox is the collecting place on these forums for social misfits. Glad you could join us Brian ;-) Must admit though that AGD wasn't very polite to a new member. Dave
Daniddon
Thank you Brian for your advise, I will now place the surveys on in the tenting section. Thank you candapack for your support :) Archiesgrandad, you did not offend me, I was merely stating my thought process on why I placed the surveys in this section of the forum. pepe63xnotuse
Pay no attention Daniddon No matter which section you had posted it in, they'd still be some or other bitter, bile filled old duffer only too "happy" to have a bleat about it!..the forum is peppered with examples...*-) You sometimes get the impression that it's what gets some of 'em out of bed in the mormin'... Anyhoo..surveys are done(..I hope I don't get too much junk coming my way now?) ..and if you haven't already posted there, the following forum is more tent orientated.. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/ ;-)
CampandCaravan
We want to know about the tents that you've bought and owned since new from January 2012! This will lead to the Camping and Caravanning Club’s first Tent Owner Satisfaction Awards. Tent campers who've paid for and used their tents in fair and foul weather are invited to take part in the online survey at http://bit.ly/tentownersurvey Whether you bought your tent from a retailer or online, we hope you'll see the value of the survey, and take the time to let the Club and other campers know of your experiences.
