mikejkay
I am sure I read on the forum somewhere that it is possible to use the AV system for a while after the ignition has been switched off. The time period can be selected. Can anybody cornfirm that this is the case and, if so, how do I go about It (2013/14 X250).
Robinhood
...it should be possible for the factory fit unit, which you possibly do not have. But, if you do, reference to this should help: http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Ducato-Euro-5-Radio/27267/?posts=
lennyhb
Better solution is to re-wire it to the leisure battery. If you just take the red & yellow wires to the leisure battery the lighting functions on the unit will still work via ignition & light switches as normal. Brock
RobinHood gives the link for factory fitted radios which many people follow. We had an Auto electrician wire our non factory fit to the leisure battery and put a switch on the dashboard. When I left the ignition on to get radio reception, the day time running lights also came on and I got fed up with caravanners telling me I'd left my lights on - considerate as it was of them to care. mikejkay
Thanks to all for the help. It would seem that the delay function is built into the factory fit radio and so I am stuffed :-( as I have just fitted a double DIN AV unit in order to use the screen as a rear view mirror. I will have to look into running a permanently live wire via a switch. I intend to wire up a block of 12v sockets to be permanently live so I'll live with the unit going off for the time being.
