Mel B
I think they used to have the nick name of "Ceausescu's revenge" ... absolute rubbish!
Will86
Is that as anagram of something more familiar?
Billggski
I've been looking at these as an alternative to an electric bike as I have a bike licence. Cheap and cheerful, but now a lot of competition, from China of course. Thought of a Mobylette or old French moped. Which the Tomos is a copy of. Anybody keep one of these running? mikejkay
I was looking at a Skyteam Skymax but the Tomos is smaller, lighter and a bit cheaper.............but better????
Colin Leake
True the quality is less than ideal but they are cheap and light. If you can keep it dry say in a garage and only intend pottering about say to the shops on it its probably good enough and in many ways preferable to,an electric bike. pepe63xnotuse
I don't want to be belittling anyone's pride and joy but, if someone is only looking to spend a small amount, then personally I'd maybe look at a second hand model, from a main/quality manufacturer... (Okay, the newer ones may still only be nailed together in China etc, anyway but at least with a well known manufacturer you "should" have a better product..?) Just make sure it hasn't been nicked!... "Cheap" and "cheerful" rarely go well together, when it comes to mechanical stuff that one wants to be able to rely on... mikejkay
Looks nice but a bit heavier than the Skyteam and I would have to remove the windscreen to get it into my "garage".
mikejkay
pepe63 - I agree with you and am actively looking. New prices don't usually include OTR charges which can makes a difference. Even supposedly higher quality scooters are mostly "nailed together in China" although one would hope that the QC would be better. What worries me more is the construction. Some decades since I stripped down a bike (a BSA C11G) and it seems to me that modern bikes/scooters follow the construction techniques pioneered by the Japanese makers i.e. don't fix it replace it.
