lennyhb
Just rotate the big disc in the top of the tank about 30 deg and it lifts out complete with the blade mechanism. Part "J" in the diagram.

StuartO
Dripping some washing up liquid into the edge of the joint as a lubricant before you do the dismantling might help. If you are doing the job on the kitchen table, which is desirable to get maximum reaction from the OH, it might also help to clean up afterwards. lennyhb
Just open the flap then you get a better purchase on it by holding it via the hole.
crbtaylor
Thanks guys, problem fixed. It was a beast to turn but with the fairy liquid and OH we did it. So fixed, cleaned and put back together. A good afternoons work in the winter sun of the Algarve.
arthur49
From memory use the sliding flap marked 'i' in the diagram above. Slide it out completely, turn upside down, reinsert partially and use it to gain a lot of extra leverage and a better grip.

Derek Uzzell
There is a large downloadable Thetford file covering repairs/maintenance for many cassette-toilet models. I’m not sure where it is on the Thetford website nowadays, but there’s a copy here http://www.rosefacchini.co.uk/upload/Sanitation%20Repair%20instructions.pdf
