Excel duo
Just come back from France, stopped at Avignon on way down and the Park and Ride for motorhomes is no longer there, just an even bigger car park for cars with a barrier and no sign of any motorhome parking. Ended up on camping Bagatelle, expensive and now very shabby, a place to avoid in the future. Also last stop Calais sea front has a new info board with instructions to pay by mobile phone but not actually in use yet, no doubt will be soon. Used the tunnel for the first time, Tesco coupons, found it very boring and parking before early crossing was difficult. Back to the ferry next time. Colin & Co. Cattwg
Pity about the P & R at Avignon. We’ve used it in the past for its convenience if just wanting an overnight. Regarding Calais. Because of the immigrant problem, on recent trips we have taken to using aires within an hour or less drive of the port. We’ve used Tesco tokens for the tunnel and think it’s great value. Personally I find the ferry more boring than the tunnel - each to his own. I use the crossing time in the tunnel to affix beam benders to the headlights. Going through againn soon. spospe
We have always visited on a Sunday and used the plentiful and free parking about 4-5 mins walk downstream from the 'Pont'. I hope it is still like it was (last visit about 3 years ago).
