Globetrotter
Hi All Just returned from our first weekend away in our new purchase! :-D Only one problem showed itself. We have a seperate shower mixer control tap, and whenever we switch the water heating on, it starts to drip slowly and annoyingly. It doesnt leak cold water, only hot. Has anyone experienced this before? The tap assembly is the original Dethleffs plastic lever mixer type, and I am wondering if washers can be replaced, or will it need to be renewed? All advice appreciated!
Mel E
Sounds like the increased pressure as the water heats up and expands is forcing the water through the mixer. If you bought new or from a dealer, get them to fix it.
Globetrotter
This will be one I fix myself, unfortunately-not a new van. Any tips on the job very welcome!
spartan3956
Sometimes they get a bit of muck under the seal and leak, a good tip is to take it out turn it round and refit. This gives it a new seat while you source another one to fit when it goes again. Pete Anything made by man eventually breaks.
Charles Chodkowski
We had a simmilar problem with our Laika, when I dismantled the valve I noticed it was made by a firm called Hydroplast, I tracked them down and their web address is www.hydroplast.it. If yours is one of theirs have a look at their web site. They sent me one in the post from Italy and it came in three days and only cost 10 Euros which they trusted me to send. Globetrotter
Thanks Guys-so it sounds like I either need to turn the seal if possible, or replace the mixer. I will be investigating next week, so will let you all know how I get on !
