Rubbercrumb Drives

Although not really Motorhome related , but I would appreciate any feedback from forum members regarding Rubbercrumb drives as opposed to block paving / tarmac . Our drive has become damaged by the motorhome and am considering having it resurfaced , some time ago MelB asked a similar question regarding Resin Drives and received some good feedback. Thanks in advance of any constructive comments.

Some new Planning requirements can affect th laying of impervious hardstanding if they are directly in frnt of the house so you may want to check those new rules as well as looking into the materials you would like. Essentilly you need Planning Permission to lay more that 5 square metrs of hardtanding if it's in front of your house.

As far as I could understand its only the space directly in front of your house which is affected, not a drive to one side, and repairing existng hardstanding might be exempt too - but there are draconian penalties if you get it wrong, so check before you leap, as it were.

The aim is to prevent people from laying impervious hradstanding from which storm water will run off and enter the public drainage system. You are supposed to use porous materials these days, and for example porous tarmac is available.
