Dometic freshjet 1100

Recommended Posts

Think you will find these units are power hungry and only recommended on 240 Hooks Up as well as expensive to fit .You may also find that air con. is not ideal for a young baby, even adults can be badly effected by it.

Today we are loading for a trip further north in Spain the temp is 29ªC ,the secret to keeping the van cool is to keep the sun out and create a through draught , to achieve this I wind the awning out just enough to create shade on that side then open all the windows, sky lights and hab. door .Pull the cab blinds too as well. If possible also open the mosquito blinds as they do restrict the air flow. When the sun moves round to the non awning side I peg towels on the windows for shade. You will be surprised how effective this process works and a much healthier way of keeping cool.

Hope this helps

Others will be on soon regarding the Fridge Units pros and cons .......

Hi Jonathan, we have a dometic fresh light 1600 in our current van which is 6.4m long. Just back from holiday in France/Germany where temperatures in the van reached 39 degrees whilst we were out during the day. Can't imagine not having air con in van, ( just shows we all have different needs and views!! ), we stayed on a mix of aires, stellplatz and municipal sites normally with 6 amps and air con worked on them all, with all other appliances on gas. Brings temperature down to low twenties easily, also in contrast to other comments, very quietly, both inside and out. Hope this gives one perspective, as you will see there are many!

Hi all just got back from weekend in Wales with my partner 6 week old baby and chocolate lab and the van was like an oven in the day, does anyone have any experience of these units? And running them on 12/24 volts?

How is that possible in Wales, Italy or Spain yes but Wales? (lol)

We don't have air con or use EHU, never have any problems do find it can be a bit more difficult sleeping if it's over 30 deg at night.

The current van we have a Fantastic Vent, this cools the van down quickly even on full power only takes a couple of amps, but it is a bit noisy.
