dolken
Off to Spain in December and hope to use aires as night stops passing through France. For the 1st night, about 250 mls from Calais, have seen two possibles, one at Fresnay sur Sarthe, near circus school, and second at Mamers next to municipal site. Has anyone stayed at Fresnay, any comments? For the one at Mamers it seems we need a barrier code. As the campsite will be closed does anyone know where we can get that from. Any other recommended aires off A28 between Alencon and Le Mans? Thanks for any info. D
vindiboy
We do that trip frequently , not used your stated Aires, but plenty of Aires to choose from on a similar route , we have done Wissant,Ruggles, La Fleche,Turquant,Baine de Radegonda Clerac, and Dax , St Jean de Luz, then Vitoria Gasteiz Spain, Vivonne is a great stopover Aire too, we tend to wander about a lot, even in Winter the Aires are open, sometimes the water is off so get it when you can, always able to empty the cassette though , Bon Voyage. nomad
Hi, we go that bit further to Bauge and then usually to Blaye before using the A63 to the Spanish border and then we find Miranda de Ebro rather handy although a bit scruffy for our first night in Spain. If you are going in that direction. dolken
Thanks for replying, I'll check out all the aires you suggest. We did stay at Casante, near Tudela, on return trip last year, but so far have used campsites in France. Third trip this year so I think it's time to use the aires. StuartO
Two suggestions for your first night stop, about 250 miles from Calais: 1 The Aire at Chateaudun is handily placed just off the N10 and although an uphill walk, it's not far into town. Nice location by the river. Unlikely to be full. 2 If that's too far to drive, we have used the Aire at Nonancourt a couple of times heading South and although slightly sloping, we've always had a quiet and comfortable night there. Again a nice location by the river and a park around the Marie. Although small we've always got in and there is overflow space in the parking near the Marie. Coordinates for both are in All the Aires.
nomad
Hi,If you are returning via Zaragoza you may find that the A23 to Huesca and the N330 to the Somport tunnel is better than using the A63 toll sections in France. There is also an Aire in Oleron Ste Marie which is in France after the tunnel. Colin
