Rocking Ron
Hi I own a 1998 1.9 Fiat TD I have noticed that the oil warning light is not coming on when I turn on the ignition on. Could this be a faulty pressure gauge ? Are there any test I could do to find out. If it is faulty where is it located on the engine I would be very grateful for any information on the above. Barryrj
Hi Ron, Although I am not familiar with this model my first guess is that the warning light bulb may have blown. This is certainly the first thing to check and possibly the easiest. It could be the switch on the engine and I am sure someone else will point you in the right direction to locate it. weldted
Most oil pressure lights work on the return to Earth system when there is no pressure the circuit to earth is made light comes on, start engine oil pressure to the switch breaks the circuit light goes out. If you can find the switch if it has only a single wire to it, with the ignition turned on but engine NOT running take the wire off the switch and earth it by touching clean metal on the engine block. If the light comes on switch is us. If it has two wires to the switch again ing on but engine NOT running touch the two wires together? Hope this helps.
