crbtaylor
After the Dusseldorf show we are intending to visit Leipzig zoo. The zoo has no car parking for motorhomes at all. Does anyone know of a stopover near the zoo or near public transport. Thanks
Brian Kirby
The Zoo is on Pfaffendorfer Strasse, at approx GPS N51.34822 E12.37140. There is motorhome parking (stellplatz) indicated on Querstrasse, approx GPS N51.34033 E12.38539. Can't be sure if this still exists, but it is clearly visible in Google Earth, along with several other parking areas along Querstrasse. About 0.8 miles SE from the Zoo as the crow flies, past the main railway station. Nearest campsite seems to be Campingplatz Auensee, approx GPS N51.36959 E12.31289 link here: http://tinyurl.com/plqd7ne, on Gustav-Esche-Strasse, about 3 miles WNW from the Zoo as the crow flies. Public transport about half mile.
Bulletguy
I've stayed on the Auensee site Brian suggested and can thoroughly recommend it, particularly for visiting Leipzig as the only way to see the city is by foot. Public transport is actually a mere cock stride from the site entrance (the stop is almost by the site entrance!) and takes you right into the city centre. Billggski
City centres need an Umweltplakette, an environmental sticker. Should cost about €6, you can buy them online. I don't know where the zone starts in Leipzig, but the sticker is for all cities.
