We spent a month in Croatia in May/June and stayed on great sites but your question is a tad too broad! Croatia is over 400 miles from top to bottom with a coastline length of 3647 miles and hundreds of sites along the coast! Where in Croatia are you thinking of going? Including Istria, the Croatian coast from the border with Italy down to Dubrovnik is about 400 miles long. It has campsites all the way down. Where were you thinking of going? Bulletguy Posted August 24, 2015 Share Posted August 24, 2015 As everyone else has said, plenty along the coastal route though not cheap. In fact very little is in Croatia now since they realised the benefit of Adriatic on the front doorstep! One point worth noting if you haven't been before, Croatia have an "interesting" drink/drive law. They have an allowance though it's lower than UK and if you get stopped at a road check, breathalysed and pass then you are ok to carry on. BUT.....and this is where it gets "interesting"......if involved in a road accident irrespective of fault that allowance instantly becomes zero. The logic being.....best not have a drink if driving in Croatia! It's a curious idea but confusing and personally i've always long been in favour of zero tolerance with drink/driving. I agree - we visited last year and used sites from the ACSI Camping card book. All sites except one were fine. Autocamp Medveja at Medveya was very poor with unclean showers. Cattwg Posted August 24, 2015 Share Posted August 24, 2015 We stopped at Camping Kate two years ago. It’s a pleasant, smallish site about 5 miles south of Dubrovnik. There’s a bus stop within a hundred yards of the entrance. A short walk out of the rear of the site brings you to the shore, you can also get a boat to Dubrovnik from here. The owners are friendly and helpful and they speak English. There’s free wifi although reception is best close to the office. I don’t think it’s an ACSI site but from memory we paid €16 with hook-up. The showers were clean if a bit small. Again from memory there’s a drive over waste dump. More information at http://campingkate.incroatia.info/en/ We also used Autokamp Skver at Senj. This site, about 500 yards from the town centre, is very much like a French aire de service. The ‘vans park in two sea-facing rows with little space between individual ‘vans. The front row actually overlooks the shore. From memory we paid €14 with hook-up. Services were clean and the owner spoke English. We also used ACSI sites as recommended by other people. Thinking of starting in Jezera Village, Murter then onto another 3 stops before heading home. We only have 20 days to tour Croatia before slowly returning to the UK. I suggest that you look at "Rough Guide" or "Lonely Planet" books then you will be able to decide what appeals to you. So much depends what interests you and how far you wish to travel and whether you wish to visit any of the other islands. If you plan to visit Dubrovnik you need to check whether your van insurance will cover you for the stretch of Bosnia through which you drive....or you may choose to miss out Bosnia by using a ferry. We liked the tiny town of Nin (caimed to be the country's oldest town) and stayed at the nearby Zaton Holiday Resort (1088 in Camping Card ACSI book). It is a huge resort but divided into lots of areas so it was possible to find a quiet area (not that the site was noisy at all when we visited in May last year.) Padova 3 on Rab Island, 16 Euro with ACSI, is really good, we spent a week there last year. The pitches are quite small but the location is excellent. We were so close to the beach I walked down the 20 metres with my cup of tea and bowl of cereal for breakfast every morning. We asked the reception to recommend a pitch for us rather than choose from a list of pitch numbers. The one they recommended was not on the list and perfect for us. They said it was there gift to us. We think it was because we were English and not a certain other nationality they usually get on site out of season and take up the beach side pitches. The ferry to and from the Island is interesting to say the least, not quite P&O but a very slick operation. Going over we were parked on the forward ramp for the short crossing, it was weird.
