Wasnt Me
Hi can anyone please recommend a place to stopover in Bakewell as near to the showground as possible. Most sites want a 2 night booking and we will be leaving early and not using the facilities. Am happy to buy a meal in a pub if there's one that will let us overnight. Thanks in advance

Wasnt Me
Many thanks for the reply. I was hoping for something closer, as need to be at the showground for an early start. Not a member of britstops as always use sites, this us a one off.
Taurian
Try googling campingpubs and also campervan overnight parking . These are two Facebook sites that will have the answer to your question.
paulmold
It's a pub, it's 3.5 miles from Bakewell but it has a proper campsite at £20 per night... http://www.grouseclaretpub.co.uk/ or this is 3.0 miles away, apparently there is a pay and display car park behind the hotel http://www.monsalhead.com/ the hotel do not allow overnighting but the car park behind is council run and displays the usual 'no sleeping in vehicles' but I believe plenty people risk it. see here.. http://freemotorhominguk.boards.net/thread/2983/monsal-head-overnight-parking

breakaleg
You can stop on the market car park in Bakewell as long as the market isn't on the next morning or has this changed now? Pete
ian81
We have parked in the Grouse and Claret carpark. The manager was quite relaxed as we didnt want to use the facilities.
