Sliding tables

Hi,

 

I'm looking at the possibilities of fitting a different table, and am trying to find one of those tables (or parts to make) that are on a pedestal, and can slide fore and aft and side to side, and even rotate. I'm a bit hampered because I can't find the proper name for them, if there is one.

 

I have found one company, Caktanks, but would love to know if there are others so I can compare prices and specifications.

I just Googled (Bing-ed?) "Adjustable Pedestal Tables", clicked images and then clicked on a likely looking candidate...which brought up a load of images, some of which may bring up a useable link/source?

The common ones are Fiamma. You may find it useful to have the tripod base also, that gives you the option of using the table outdoors also

Now that is an interesting approach. Whilst the table can't slide around as I had envisaged, it could be removed, and stood up against the 'wall'.

My 2005 Hobby motorhome had a Kessebohmer “Primero” single-column table as shown here

The table’s columnl could be telescoped and its top could be hinged down on both sides and (when hinged up) could be rotated and slid laterally. The UK distributor for Kessebohmer products is

but I don’t know if they could obtain leisure-vehicle tables. The pedestal telescoping mechanism was hideously complex and, when I looked at pricing out of curiosity, that was eye-wateringly high.

 

My present Rapido motorhome’s table can also be telescoped down and its (one-piece) top can be slid side-to-side, front-to-rear and rotated. It’s similar to the one shown here

but I don’t know who the manufacturer is. I do know, though, that buying a complete table from Rapido would cost over £600 as I explored the possibility of replacing the one-piece-top version with the hinged-top design that’s available for UK-market Rapidos.

 

Even though the price of a CAK-marketed manually-operated telescopic-pedestal with swivelling/sliding top-frame will be well over £300 (and I believe you’d then need to add the cost of the table-top itself) I doubt that you’d find anything equivalent cheaper in the UK.

But if you want sliding, rotating and adjustable height, CAK is probably your best bet.

 

(A caveat that should be obvious - if you did plan to instal a ‘fixed’ single-leg table, you’d need to be certain that the floor was adequately solid to accept the mounting screws.)

I spoke to CAK tanks at the NEC show and they were very helpful, give them a ring and talk through what you want. There are several alternatives. I haven't found my ideal set up yet.
