Lizzy
Hubby and I had to replace my Escort last week. We have choosen a Toyota Corolla diesal - which has developed the occasional knocking from deep inside. We only picked it up last Wednesday :'( and it has to go back to the dealer today :-( so I'm not a happy person at all. I've only just got used to all the gadgets and gizmos and haven't driven in the dark yet! And as for letting it out in the rain LOL Any ideas what the knocking might be? It happens when we have the air conditioning running. Co-incidence or connection maybe?
Mel B
Lizzy Is it new or second hand? If second hand why not insist that it is put through an MOT at a place of your choosing, at the expense of the dealer, before you accept it back. If there's nothing to hide he should be willing to do this, if not ask for your money back, if he refuses get straight on to Trading Standards. Lizzy
It's a year old. Done 21,000. Good condition. The RAC have already done a check on it, it's independent from the Toyota Dealer. The previous owner complained of a knocking too, so long as it's the same problem it won't worry us as much. I think it's related to the Air Con .......... howie
At your age I doubt if its opportunity knocking Lizzie. Just make sure the garage you bought it from rectifies the fault and don,t put up with any feeble excuses. Howard.
Mel B
Are you sure it doesn't have a longer warranty on it than one year? Lots of cars now have 2 or 3 years??? Air-con can be a bit noisy but I wouldn't expect it to 'knock', sounds like somethings a bit loose, if so and it eventually comes loose completely then you ain't got no air-con or worse!!! :-(
Lizzy
There's a 30 day 'swap' clause as well as 2 years on the Warrenty. I'm really stuck without a car :-(
