We are travelling to the Pyranees/Camargue & Gorges Tu Tarn in June and would appreciate any recommendations on campsites/aires in these areas. Prefer the less commercialised sites. We are taking the ferry route from Portsmouth to Bilbao, are there any particular things we should be aware of. Thanks

We stayed at the 'Aire' at Peyrepertuse (at the village at the foot of the castle) last week. An excellent free site. Generally, especially out of season, there are plenty of 'aires', municipal sites and opportunities for off site camping in the entire Pyrenees region. P.S. Despite Peyrepertuse being a Cathar stronghold, I refrained from (re)mentioning their ultimate fate, you may have noticed. This was to avoid offending the fake log fire, Daily Mail reading, flying duck contingent amongst forum users!
