fjmike
Recently had to use Comfort (RAC) breakdown in France and have to say it was an extremely slick experience. Recovery was with us in under an hour (French lunch time), the garage got on the case straight away. All the way through the whole experience we were kept up to date with regular texts and phone calls.

When mine was recovered earlier this year by the RAC in the UK the low loader driver had to use various planks and blocks of wood to prevent the rear of my chassis bottoming out. I presume they were able to repair locally and repatriation wasn't necessary? What's the maximum length of trip abroad you can take with Comfort? Comfort give you 365 day cover BUT they seemed to put little changes into their T&Cs over the years we were with them. I stand to be corrected on the details but I think Comfort were insisting that although 365 the policyholder had to keep them advised of trips over 90 days. May not be a problem but to me 365 is 365 so we moved. We changed over to Safeguard because they do offer genuine 365 without any fuss which suits us as we can be away for several months at a time. Repair was organised locally at an Iveco dealer. Hotel accommodation and car hire as required so no repatriation. The details are in our blog but basically we couldn't have wished for better service. Used Safeguard in France on a breakdown and service was brilliant. Easy to call out responded in about 20 mins and all through English speaker. Considering it comes 'free' with insurance, couldn't fault them. Insurance price is good too around £325 per annum for my van Hope this helps Mike

PJay
We also with Safeguard. I have just bought 2, 2016 map books from Vicarious ( France, Spain), and both have an offer of £10.00 off AA European breakdown cover, should any one be looking PJay
