Len Salisbury Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 What is the minimum voltage of a key fob battery to open the central locking on Peugeot Boxer? The battery that is being used has 3volts stamped on it. It is a 2032 type.and Tesco sell them 2x£4 which is not bad whilst my Peugeot dealer sells one at £7 plus VAT for the same type.
athiest Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Hi Len, sorry dont know the minimum but mine is at least seven years old & is still going strong, (works from at least 50 yards away ). "A"
Robbo Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Whenever battery powered gizzmos stop working, like wireless computer keyboard or mouse, my first port of call is to check the voltage of the batteries with a multimeter. If less than the prescribed voltage then replace. Suggest you do the same and carry a spare set of batteries for emergency backup purposes. However, there are circumstances where remote devices can be confused by external high voltage underground cables. This happened to me when parked in a particular road on more than one occasion when the remote locking device refused to work.
Alanb Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 New lithium coin cells produce slightly over 3 volts, and have a shelf life of about 10 years. Expired cells read about 2.7 volts, but the actual failure voltage will be application dependant. The CR2032 is a commonly used in key fobs, and other items, so I keep a couple of a reliable brand in stock as an insurance.
