DVLA Very impressed

It may be due to the high level inquiry at DVLA recently.

A driver high on drugs killed a young lady when he lost control of his car. Police discovered that he had been to Court about 2 or 3 months earlier and banned for other serious offences. He was still able to drive because DVLA had failed to process the procedure for revoking his licence.

I will be 70 in June, so imagine my suprise when my renewal notice came 3 weeks ago.As i have now downsized to a PVC under 3500kg, I no longer need my C1 plus E, I used to tow a car on an A-Frame as well.

I completed my application online, didnt even need a passport photo(they needed my passport no. though), filled everything in and pressed GO, now 3 weeks later I have my new 3 year license. I kept my old license until the new one arrived, and they have copied everything, my full motorcycle A license, etc. But of course no C1 , so no more vans over 3500kg, however i can tow a 1500kg Caravan behind my 3500kg PVC if i wish to quite legally........mad or what ? But no RVs or big Autotrails. End of an era.

For me at least, they were very efficient.
