Dave225 Posted May 7, 2016 Share Posted May 7, 2016 I am guessing you are referring to a standard auto 'lighter' socket. This used to be for the cigarette lighter before we all became healthy. It is now supplied as a direct 12 volt power point, and usually is 'live' even with the igntion off. Sorry, as you are in the caravan section, then this will be in your van and live when your battery is hooked up, or mains is cnnected. This will be a power source for your tv, but you can use it for other things that need a 12 volt supply. Most bits that use it come with the plug, but you can buy these separately if you wish. Remember that 10 amps at 12 volts is only 120 watts so do not plug in the wife's hairdryer or....kaboom! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
