JimTierney
I have a 2005 Hymer B654 At the final stop on our recent holiday I could not remove the key from the ignition! It is in Park. Been told it could be a worn ignition barrel or an inhibitor switch connected to the park mode. Any ideas?
billmars
We had exactly the same problem with an automatic Volvo. It turned out to be, as you have been told, the gear park mode inhibitor switch, which doesn't allow the removal of the ignition key unless in park. My garage man actually disconnected the switch with no adverse effects, and I've had no problems since. When the ignition key was stuck, we ended up putting a towel over the steering wheel so you couldn't see the ignition key and locking the car with the spare key. Of course, completely different vehicles, so may be nothing to do with gear park lock!
JimTierney
Big thanks for that. Hopefully that will be the issue!
