Vixter
Hi everyone Has anyone any experience of buying a UK converted camper in France and re-registering it in UK? We will soon be putting our Bilbos Nexus up for sale, we bought it in UK and re-registered it in France (where we live), which wasn't easy! I'm thinking of maybe advertising it in UK - but if it would be too much hassle for a purchaser to re-register it in UK maybe it isn't worth it. Derek Uzzell
In principle it should be straightforward for a UK buyer to re-register your Bilbo's Nexa, using a similar procedure to when a used motorhome is bought abroad by a UK resident and imported to the the UK. General advice on importing a vehicle into the UK is in this DVLA leaflet: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/561488/INF106-How-to-import-a-vehicle-into-the-United-Kingdom-_UK_.pdf Any modifications (eg. swapping its original headlamps for a ‘right-dipping’ pattern) to allow the vehicle to be registered in France would need to be changed back to a UK specification as defined here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/222591/apply-commission-notice-motorhomes.pdf However, you’ll note the paragraph "Vehicle previously registered in the United Kingdom? If this applies to your vehicle please contact the DVLA to discuss the requirements for re-registration.” Although not directly relating to your situation, this link may be of interest http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?20615-Importing-a-UK-car-from-France
