heva
Our family are new to the whole campervan world and have hit a bit of an issue. Our van has been used 4 times this year and each time has worked like a dream. It's a Fiat Ducato 2008. It has gone out on its 5th trip and on reaching the campsite has failed to connect up to the electric hook up. No lights, fridge anything. After trying several different hookup connections and no success they borrowed a different lead to hook up with. The fridge worked and a couple of lights but that was short lived. No electric all night and really not sure where the problem lies. Any ideas or tips would be gratefully recieved,
Ninian
Hi, Make sure all the breakers in the consumer unit are in the UP position and that the earth leakage breaker hasn't tripped.

Thanks Ninian. All the consumer unit switches are up but I'm not sure what or where the earth leakage breaker is??

Ninian
Hi, The earth leakage breaker is the one that has a test button on it. It should be in or adjacent to the consumer unit.
Brian Kirby
Simplest first: get you EHU cable electrically checked. If there is a break in the cable, or a loose connection in either plug, you won't get mains to the van. Has the van been left standing without mains power when not in use? If so, might the battery be flat or dead? Have you checked the battery meter? If the cable is no good, it won't have been charging. There will be a fuse somewhere very close to the leisure battery + terminal. Have you checked that? That you had no 12V power at all points to a fundamental fault in the 12V system. Either the battery, or that main 12V fuse at the battery. The only other simple thing that springs to mind is whether there is a switch for the 12V system that has been inadvertently turned off. Have you consulted the LMC manual for the van? If not, now might be a good time to start! :-D
heva
Thanks Brian, The van was in full working order on the drive before set off. Battery fully charged and had been connected up all night to the mains powering the fridge, lights etc. We have electricians checking over the van now and they are baffled. The mains connection works and the sockets have power. The TV works off the solar panel and that works. There is no fridge or light power though. They are now looking for the fuse near the leisure battery but there doesn't appear to be a fuse, the cabling all seems to branch off. Any other advice where this might be? The manual has be read, and re read but as it is a second hand van not sure all literature is available. I have searched online for a wiring plan of a LMC liberty van but seem to be hitting lots of dead ends.

Billggski
There will be an electroblock type of charger, possibly under a seat or cupboard, not necessarily near the leisure battery, through which all the power is distributed. This will have fuses that need to be checked. Your initial hook up may have blown one. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=schaudt+electroblock&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#imgrc=J1Sm_NRMkHjEnM:

rupert123
It is possible the system just needs resetting. Disconnect all electrical power including the starter and leisure batteries, leave for a few minutes then reconnect.
AndyLou
We had a problem a bit like this and we had to remove the switch panel from the electric to reboot it or some thing like that. This is the sort of thing I am talking about. https://cdn.csuk-solutions.net/uploads/01/5643105-bessacarr-e435-2.jpg
heva
Thank you so much for everyone's help. The electrician managed to get everything back up and running. A blown fuse was a fault it was just a bit awkward to find!
