starvin marvin
Any advice on getting mossie stains off my mirror covers?
Derek Uzzell
I assume “mossie” means “mosquito”? I have white “Mirror Guard” protectors http://www.mirrorguard.co.uk/aboutus.html on my Rapido’s mirrors and removing flies from them normally just involves a rub with a sponge and some ordinary car shampoo. I use Bilt-Hamber wax http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/bilt-hamber/double-speed-wax.aspx on the protectors and on the motorhome as a whole. The flies come off the protectors very easily and there is no residual staining. If your protectors are not “Mirror Guard” (cheaper/lower-quality protectors are/have been marketed) it’s possible that the protectors’ outer surface will be less resistant to staining from the chemicals in the flies’ body. If the chemicals have ‘etched’ your protectors’ outer surface, you could try using a mildly abrasive polish to see if that would help.

Thanks for the reply, I'll take a look at your suggestions. My covers are white and from Milenco, can't remember what they call them and they are dotted with stains. Admittedly I'm a very reluctant van cleaner, usually get someone else to do it. However once a year I'll give it a once over. Now is the time.
