Priston
Looking to arrange a trip to the Italian Lakes in late spring and wanted to call in at Mulhouse to visit the car museum, Looked at a couple of sites but they appear to have problematic reviews. has anyone got any recommendations? Derek Uzzell
I’ve never camped near Mulhouse, but the most convenient campsite for a brief stop to visit the car museum will be "Camping Municipal de l’Ill” within the city itself, near to the river and open from 1 April. It’s location is shown here http://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/cci.php?numero=112 http://en.camping-alsace.com/camping-ill-mulhouse Comments suggest it’s probably not the greatest of places for a long stay in the ‘tourist season’, but it should be OK in late-Spring. emmerson
We visited the museum a couple of years ago, but can't remember where we stayed, but the purpose of this post may sound rather silly, but is serious. The Museum is absolutely fantastic, and I'd love to go again. However, it is made to look even bigger and better by the use of mirrors. My wife doesn't have the best eyesight, and actually walked into one of these huge mirrors, hurting herself quite badly. Be careful!
Geeco
Alan, it is worth putting up with whatever campsite you can find to ensure you do not miss the car museum. I have visited a lot of car museums over the years but IMHO none come close to the Mulhouse example especially if you like Bugattis.cheers,
Tony Jones
There's also the fascinating Peugeot museum, down the road at Sochaux. Used to be able to stay over in the carpark there, not sure if you still can.
